About us - our story
Box Edge is the product of Danielle Wolmarans and Valerie Tapela meeting one beautiful day in Cape Town at the Coaching to Excellence and Associate Coaching Courses presented by the UCT Graduate School of Business’s Centre for Coaching. It was here that they experienced and embraced a meeting of minds and conceived a partnership which they soon realized would carry them forward to their ultimate goals.
Danielle, who studied Psychology and Film at UCT, had gone on to study family therapy in Johannesburg and completed her BA (Honours) in Psychology. After gaining some experience in the psychology field and working with a NGO in Meadowlands, Soweto she decided to have a change of scenery and experience life in London for a year. Here she worked in the corporate media industry while travelling as much as possible. It was in London that Danielle had her first face to face experience with coaching and she was hooked. She returned to South Africa and began her training at the Centre for Coaching (UCT Graduate School of Business) as well as joining COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa). While working with other coaches in the industry and as a workshop facilitator she finally found her ultimate purpose. Her brilliance within…
Valerie is married with three young boys. After completing her studies at UCT in industrial psychology, she moved into the corporate sector. Realising that this wasn’t fulfilling her needs and personal strengths she began to search for something that spoke to her true purpose in life. Working with individuals in the market research, training and development fields she was introduced to the Executive Coaching firm - Change Partners. This is where she discovered coaching. Val went on to study Integral Coaching at UCT Graduate School of Business Centre for Coaching. She is passionate about social matters and thus throughout her life has worked as a volunteer for a number of NGO’s, more recently in Cape Town with organizations such as Friends of Valkenberg, Yabonga and The Shine Centre. Currently she serves as a Trustee of The Shine Trust.
Valerie loves travelling, reading and is a passionate rugby follower and supporter.
