What is integral coaching?
With the growing awareness of coaching and what it entails this is a question many people ask. The question also arises in relation to selecting the appropriate coach to assist in tackling immediate coaching needs. Integral coaching is a specific approach within the many disciplines of coaching (i.e. business, entrepreneurial, personal, life, health, relationships).
The Integral Coaching theory presupposes that in order to coach any human being - whether it’s for business or personal needs- the individual served must be viewed holistically. This necessitates understanding the complete and often complex contexts and roles we all, as individuals, function within.
The interdependence of our relationships, work and social lives are therefore acknowledged. In order to fulfil this requirement we strive to work with the individual on the following essential components:
- the body
- language/cognition
- emotion and
- spirit
Thereby supporting our clients in developing new/fresh perspectives and generating personal change that is effective and lasting. (Sourced: Centre for Coaching, UCT GSB).
